About Us

Kids Arise Vihiga began with a simple yet powerful vision: to create opportunities for children in Vihiga County, just as they were created for me. My journey started with a life-changing scholarship, made possible by my primary school teacher, who not only informed me about the opportunity but also guided me through the application process. That moment opened a door that shaped my future.

When I returned home, I was struck by a harsh reality. My best friend, despite excelling in her exams, couldn’t proceed to high school due to a lack of school fees. Many of my former classmates faced similar challenges. I realized that without the guidance and opportunities I had received, I could have been in their shoes. This realization sparked a question: What if every child had access to the same opportunities I did?

Driven by this question, I gathered a team of like-minded individuals, and together, we founded Kids Arise Vihiga. Our mission was clear:Support learners in school, remove barriers to success, and connect them to life-changing opportunities.

Two years into our work, we identified a new challenge. While we successfully helped students complete high school and secure scholarships, many struggled to sustain themselves in university and ended up dropping out. This highlighted a critical gap: the need to prepare students for life beyond high school.

To address this, we launched The Launchpad Program, a transformative initiative designed to equip youth with practical skills to earn a living while pursuing higher education.

Today, Kids Arise Vihiga is more than an education initiative; it is a movement dedicated to unlocking potential, breaking barriers, and creating lasting change—one child, one school, one community at a time.
