At Kids Arise Vihiga, we believe that reading is the gateway to all learning.
Through our #FromReaderToReader campaign, we are working to ensure that every child in Vihiga County has access to storybooks (English & Swahili) and dictionaries—essential tools for literacy and self-expression.
The Challenge: A Lack of Reading Materials
Many schools in Vihiga lack adequate storybooks to support reading sessions, leaving students without the fundamental building blocks for learning. Families also struggle to afford books, making it difficult for children to develop strong literacy skills. Without access to books, students miss out on critical thinking, creativity, and self-expression opportunities—key components of quality education.
Our Solution: Bringing Books Back to Classrooms
The #FromReaderToReader program is part of our Scholars Support Project, dedicated to reviving reading sessions in schools by making books accessible to students. We supplement this initiative with debates and discussions, helping learners build confidence, articulate their thoughts, and enhance communication skills.
